Hands Washing Awareness
Hand washing is a daily repetitive, sensory activity, so it is naturally fits mindfulness practice: you can notice the temperature of the water, the soap texture and your breathing while you washing your hands.
That turns a routine task into a brief grounding meditation practice that can reinforce, personal hygiene care, present-moment awareness and emotional regulation.
Yes, hand washing is essential part of hygiene care and one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infections and diseases. However, overdoing it can dry and irritate the skin barrier. When the outer layer of the skin becomes damaged, it can be at risk of becoming more vulnerable to irritants and microorganisms entering through cracks or broken skin.
Therefore, after washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, gently dry them with a clean towel. Then apply a moisturizer (cream or lotion, preferably with no alcohol or less irritants) to prevent dryness, replenish barrier lipids and maintain the hydrolipid film, defending against environmental stressors.
Remember, you are light, you are loved, you are here, you are beauty-FULL...
